J's Urban Outfitters Buy

It's no secret that I like makeup and all things nail polish/design related; So I had to scoop up these lovely items. As you might remember, I have another e.l.f. palette from UO (Check out my Birthday post for details) but this one has brighter colors and for only $5 I couldn't pass it up. The nail art stencils were only $4 on sale and with 64 stencil designs, it's such a deal it's almost unbelievable. I can't wait to try them out and I'll be sure to upload the pics of my super cool new nails. Thanks Urban Outfitters, love ya.

Set Me Up

          Hey J here, ready to rant and rave about my makeup saver: ICING Dusk 'til Dawn Makeup Setting Spray. This product is literally a girl's (or guy's- there are no judgements here) best friend because it does exactly what it advertises; It sets your makeup so you can dance the night away or simply think about things besides your makeup running.

          I came across this spray while browsing in ICING and it immediately caught my eye. The sleek 'city skyline at night' graphic was a show stopper amongst the other makeup products. I would've been happy buying only this spray, but the cashier told me about the buy one get one 1/2 off sale going on at the time. So I thought "Hey a deal is a deal" and picked up a bottle of ICING Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover for $4.50. Word to the wise, a deal is not always a deal. I learned that the hard way with my not-so-wonderful eye makeup remover.

          The real prize ended up being my setting spray. At just $5.50 ($6.25 CAD), this product has saved me countless hours, dollars, and trouble by not having to touch up my makeup every 5 minutes. And it's SO easy to use: just apply your makeup as usual, spray on and you're done. It's refreshing and it helps you stay beautiful... from dusk 'til dawn. ;-]

To curb the swelling from a popped pimple, wrap an ice cube in a paper towel or plastic bag and apply to the area for 5 to 10 minutes. Afterwards, dab on some antibiotic (like Neosporin) to avoid infection.

Oh no! You've put on too much blush. Don't fret- you can fix that. Just apply some translucent powder onto your cheeks to lessen the color, or for a cream blush just blend a bit of foundation to tone it down.

In the hotter months you can opt for a cream blush instead of powder. Summer heat + the creamy texture can give you a more natural flush... so test which works best for you. Rather than use a brush, you simply apply with your fingers.

Want to know how to apply blush without channeling Bozo The Clown? Follow these quick steps for a perfect rosy glow...

1. If you're unsure of what color blush to buy, choose a shade that most closely resembles your cheeks when naturally flushed. (Pinch 'em!)

2. Apply your foundation as usual... and then smile! See the apples of your cheeks? That's where you should focus your blush application.

3. Lightly swirl or bounce your brush in the blush color, then tap the brush on the side of your container to remove any excess.

4. Now angle your brush slightly, and apply in a circular motion- sweeping up towards your temples.

C's Top 10 Lip Balms

10. N.Y.C Roll On Lip Gloss

       
         This was probably one of the first lip glosses I ever used. I like it because it's not too thick and it leaves a nice glossy sheen. My favorite's are Strawberry and Watermelon.






9. Love & Toast Lip Balm: Coconut Lime 

          I discovered this one at a spa in Guelph called "Three" which sells this amazing all natural brand. Another one of my favorite scents is the " Strawberry Fields".

           I love this lip balm because it's thick and keeps your lips nice & moisturized. My favorite's are strawberry, raspberry and mango.

CUTE-TIP #23

If you have really chapped lips, brush them with the dry bristles of a tooth brush to exfoliate; Slather on some Vaseline and you've got smooth soft lips!

Ran out of make-up remover? Use face cream instead. Just put a little bit on a cotton pad & remove makeup like normal. Be sure to wash your face afterwards with cleanser to clear your pores.

Tired of your basic black or brown eyeliner, but scared of spending money on the unknown? Well, there's an app for that..... I mean trick, some things are best done hands-on. ;-]

Easy Steps For A Custom Eyeliner:

1. Take your chosen shade of dry eyeshadow, and apply it to your lid as you would normally.

2. Then wet the applicator and dab in the same color.

3. Draw a line along your lid- close to upper lash line. 

Voila! Now you've got a subtle contrast of shading that'll make you a standout. xx

          The Perfect Birthday Outfit. I don’t know about you guys but every year on my birthday, I’m faced with the same question: “What do I wear?” And whether you’re going out at night, having a relaxed birthday dinner with friends, or just simply getting together with family- there will definitely be pictures taken. Looking back on these photos should be fun, but if you don’t feel good in what you’re wearing then you won’t look good and it’s all downhill from there.           This year I decided to go to NYC for a Cirque Du Soleil show and going to Manhattan insures a good amount of walking, so the right footwear is key. Generally, when putting together an outfit I go by a simple rule: Pick the shoes you want to wear so they can guide your look. Though the shoes I had in mind didn’t scream, “Great for walking!”, the Call It Spring Polakis wedge sandals were perfect for this occasion.
