From Day to Night

Hey guys, here's an example of how an outfit can be transformed from dressed down in the day to a night out on the town, using only one item.

I am wearing a white cotton Hollister t-shirt ($9.99 CAD), with a slight ruffle at the neckline. The ruffle can give it both a dressy or casual look. Since the neckline is very low I layered a peach colored cotton camisole from Forever21 ($3.99 CAD) underneath. I tucked these in to this cute pair of self tie cargo shorts from Bluenotes ($15 CAD).

I matched this outfit with a thin patterned scarf from Garage ($12.99 CAD). Wearing a scarf gave the option of not wearing a necklace, but I chose to add a vintage looking necklace from Forever 21 ($4.99 CAD) with a long chain so it falls lower than the scarf. Also, there's the option of swapping out the scarf entirely for a statement or collared style necklace, which are really trendy right now.

Instead of wearing bracelets I wore some intricately designed cocktail rings; One was $4.99 (USD) from Forever 21 and the other was $3.99 (USD) from Wet Seal. And since I was out during the day when these photos were taken, I wore my Kardashian Kollection Aviators ($17 USD).

Now to make this outfit dressy, pair it with gold sandals and a gold purse. This purse was a gift so I'm not too sure how much it was but I do know that is it from Aldo Accessories. The gold sandals I got from Payless Shoe Source were $9.99 (CAD).

To dress down your outfit for a more day feel, swap the gold sandals and purse (metallics are great for a nighttime look) for a pair of flip flops and a more casual bag. I went with my Longchamp Le Pliage bag; it's in the color "Taupe" but it's pretty much olive green. The bag retails for $160 (CAD), but my dad bought it for me from England for about 40-50 pounds which is between 64 and 80 CAD. So it's a lot cheaper to buy it from European airport stores rather than at the retailers.*

So that's how you take a casual day look and make it night out worthy. It's simple to do, but it saves you time so you can focus on having fun instead. =]

*Now of course I know it's not exactly convenient for everyone to just hop on a plane and fly to Europe, so there are alternatives. In Toronto, where I live, we have Pacific Mall where they sell fairly good knock offs for around $20. They even have some real ones and sell it for really cheap in comparison to the retail price. (If you hit up some flea markets you may find some really good look-alikes.)
