Halloween Haunt

Happy Halloween everyone! Halloween is one of my favourite time's of the year. If you're like me and hate spending money on a new costume every year, which can be expensive, then here's a chance to get creative!

I feel like girls feel obligated to dress really scandalous (like in Mean Girls), and let me just say there's a way of making your costume look cute and girly without looking like a total You-Know-What. This past weekend I saw a girl wearing a bra and underwear with a police hat. Like, what?... Personally, I love getting crafty and showing off my creativity instead; This year my roommates and I decided to be road signs (don't ask me why, we thought it was funny).

To make the sign all I needed was poster board, string, paint in red and black; It only took me about 40 minutes to make my costume. The sign on my back said "speed bumps ahead", unfortunately I don't have a picture of it, I can guarantee you that it was pretty funny though. I wore my signs over a black v-neck, and leggings and wore my cute new black wedges. I also wore this mint polka-dotted headband J bought me, just for kicks. I thought it looked cute, and everyone loved our costumes. My friend Fiona (on the left) also made her costume, she was a toddler in a tiara (if you can't already tell :p). She bought the dress, which came with the pearl necklace attacked to it, for $5 and the tiara and pacifier were bought at the dollar store. So both of our costumes totalled under $10. Happy Halloween.

P.S.  J and I would love to see what you guys are dressed up as for Halloween. Tweet us a pic @FashionTMH. xx

CUTE TIP #41

After showering, squeeze the excess water out of your hair with a towel, rather than wrapping it up while you dress. Letting your strands air dry for at least 10 minutes before styling will lessen frizz and save your precious follicles. Try it!

Hey Ombre!

The hot hair trend for the last couple of months is Ombre coloring. This effect gives hair a dual (and sometimes triple or quadruple) colored look, so you have the best of both worlds: Dark & Light. For those afraid of dyeing their hair completely one color or not into the highlighting idea, Ombre hair dyeing might be just the trick; From a subtle color difference, to adding purples and pastels, the combinations are endless with this color process.

So what's your verdict on this multi-tone hair trend... Yay or Nay? Let us know below.

CUTE-TIP #39

While in a tropical climate, the heat and moisture in the air will most definitely give you a case of The Frizzies. To combat this, make sure you keep your hair clean and moisturized; Anti-Frizz cream and hair serum should do just the trick!

Set Me Up

Hey J here, ready to rant and rave about my makeup saver: ICING Dusk 'til Dawn Makeup Setting Spray. This product is literally a girl's (or guy's- there are no judgements here) best friend because it does exactly what it advertises; It sets your makeup so you can dance the night away or simply think about things besides your makeup running.

I came across this spray while browsing in ICING and it immediately caught my eye. The sleek 'city skyline at night' graphic was a show stopper amongst the other makeup products. I would've been happy buying only this spray, but the cashier told me about the buy one get one 1/2 off sale going on at the time. So I thought "Hey a deal is a deal" and picked up a bottle of ICING Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover for $4.50. Word to the wise, a deal is not always a deal. I learned that the hard way with my not-so-wonderful eye makeup remover.

The real prize ended up being my setting spray. At just $5.50 ($6.25 CAD), this product has saved me countless hours, dollars, and trouble by not having to touch up my makeup every 5 minutes. And it's SO easy to use: just apply your makeup as usual, spray on and you're done. It's refreshing and it helps you stay beautiful... from dusk 'til dawn. ;-]
